The Muriel Bolhuis-VanderKuy Camp Award
Muriel has been a member of HPTF since 1972. She has served as President, Vice President, and Historian, and received her Emeritus certificate in piano from MMTA in 2001. In 2004 a scholarship fund was set up to honor Muriel's love of teaching piano and support of present and future piano students.
Each year students who are interested in going to Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, Interlochen Arts Camp, or other approved summer music camp may apply for the award. Tuition charges up to $1,000 for students in grades 7 through 12 will be paid. The student need not be a first-time camper, but must be a student of a HPTF member and may only win this scholarship once. Parents shall cover all expenses of the camp in excess of the amount of the award.
Students nominated for the Bolhuis-VanderKuy scholarship should demonstrate superior interest, achievement, and motivation, and attend one of the above camps to study piano in the year the award is given.
Winner of the above award is selected by drawing at the October Monday Night Meeting.
